Amber Rachelle & The Sweet Potatoes Bio:
Amber Rachelle is a jazz vocalist whose career started when she moved to New Orleans in 2016 at the age of nineteen. Since then, she steadily worked her way up from busking on the streets of the French Quarter to playing multiple venues and festivals across the city. She holds weekly residencies at both The Spotted Cat and The Jazz Playhouse and annually plays French Quarter Fest and Jazz Fest under her own name. In 2021 Amber founded her most recent project, Amber Rachelle & The Sweet Potatoes, who began as a swing band but have since expanded their repertoire to embrace a variety of jazz sub-genres, including blues, jump, and New Orleans R&B which is reflected on their most recent album, “Pipin’ Hot!,” which gets regular spins on WWOZ. The Sweet Potatoes are a highly versatile band that are equally at home turning a nightclub into a dance floor as they are delivering an intimate listening-room set. Amber is a passionate advocate for the continuation of jazz as a living, breathing art form and strives to ignite passion for the genre among younger audiences.
In her own words, Amber is constantly inspired by the city’s vibrant culture and diverse musical landscape. She is deeply honored to be a part of the New Orleans music community and call this city her home.
